“<strong>治人事天,莫若嗇,夫為嗇,是謂早服。</strong>”
治理國家,要像保護自然一樣順其自然(萬物有自己的生存法則,任由它自生自滅咱們不加以幹擾),所以隻有這樣才能盡早順從“<strong>道</strong>”。
“<strong>早服謂之重積德,重積德則無不克,無不克則莫知其極。莫知其極,可以有國,有國之母,可以長久。</strong>”
隻有早順“<strong>道</strong>”而行才能多積“<strong>德</strong>”,隻有多積“<strong>德</strong>”才能“無不克”,隻有“<strong>無不克</strong>”才能達到大道無窮,隻有大道無窮才能達到安邦治國,隻有以道為治國之本,立國之母國才能達到長治久安。
“<strong>是謂深根固柢,長生久視之道。</strong>”
所以這樣的國家才是深根固柢,她的根植於長生久視之道。

<strong>墨子論度</strong>
鄭人是墨子的學生。他謹遵師誨,墨守成規,然而買鞋的事卻惹出了大笑話。在眾人的譏笑聲中鄭人百思不得其解,是老師錯了?還是自己有問題?最後他隻好向自己的老師求解。
墨子問明了原委,連連搖頭。鄭人問:“老師,我寧信度,不信足,有什麽錯嗎?”
墨子思索了片刻:“寧信度,不信足。這種說法並不為過,但是你真的這麽認為嗎?”
鄭人疑惑了:“當時我是這麽認為的,但現在。現在……”
“你當時就不是這麽認為的。”墨子斷然否定了他的說法:“寧信度,不信足。說明度比足更重要,如果你真的這麽認為。那麽你到集市上去的時候為什麽帶著足,卻沒有帶度?你把度忘了,說明你並不重視度,如果你真的帶了度就不會惹出這麽大的麻煩。”
“其實我覺得度是不需要的,我自己帶著足不就夠了嗎?”鄭人不解。
墨子仰天長歎:“我追求的是天下之度啊!凡事皆有度,我們的任務是去製定度,然後讓所有的人都去遵守它,這才是我們墨家的一精一髓。你帶著一枚度去買鞋,這顯得很不方便,也沒必要,可是如果你讓別人幫你買鞋,度的作用可就大了。推而廣之。如果我們將天下人之足皆一一測量,然後按其大小分成若幹等次度,以甲乙丙丁名之,然後使人人皆知自己之度,這樣一來以後買鞋隻需記得自己的度名就夠了,用不著每次買鞋都要測量一次。這樣才能從複雜走向簡單。人人有度才是我們真正的追求,廣而言之:我們要做到寧信度,不信人。”
